Trịnh Cán

Điện Đô Vương Trịnh Cán (鄭檊, 1777-1782) was a child heir of northern Vietnam's Trịnh lords and the ninth lord of Trịnh lords. His mother was Đặng Thị Huệ who undertook a war to retain his place as lord, but her armies were defeated by warlord Trịnh Khải. He was born and died in Thang long (nowaday Hanoi).^[1]

History

Trịnh Cán was born in 1777 and became prince in 1780 after his brother Trịnh Khải abdicated. Trịnh Cán was suffered from illness when he was born. In September 1782 Trịnh Sâm died. Đặng Thị Huệ and count Hoàng Đình Bảo helped Trịnh Cán succeeded the order of lord with the title Điện Đô vương, when he was just 6 year old. Queen Đặng Thị Huệ officially control the royal court to help her son and Count Hoàng Đình Bảo . Because of this, it caused the anger of the army and civilians .

In October 1782, Dự Vũ is the assistant of Trịnh Khải who made the coup and to kill Hoàng Đình Bảo, then he forced Trịnh Cán to make the abdication. Trịnh Cán must live exile and die after one month.
