United Kingdom Census 1881
The United Kingdom Census of 1881 recorded the people residing in every household on the night of 3 April 1881,[1] and was the fifth of the UK censuses to include details of household members.
Details collected include: address, name, relationship to the head of the family, marital status, age at last birthday, gender, occupation, and place of birth.
The 1881 census was the first UK census to be made available online.[2] Initially the 1881 census was transcribed by volunteers for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and made available first on CD then later online. Free access to the online index is now available from several sources.
Notable entries in the 1881 census include Winston Churchill, Karl Marx and Charles Darwin.[2]
