Vetapalem is a census town in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Vetapalem mandal in Ongole revenue division.[2]
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[3] Vetapalem had a population of 37,037. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Vetapalem has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 50%. In Vetapalem, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Government and politics
Vetapalem gram panchayat is the local self-government of the village.[4] The elected members of the gram panchayat is headed by a sarpanch.[5]
Education
The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state.[6][7] The medium of instruction followed by different schools are English, Telugu.
