Vicky Fallon

Vicky Fallon[1] is a U.K based singer/songwriter and television personality. Fallon is engaged to Ex 5ive star Abz Love[2] and featured in his hit documentary series Country Strife: Abz on the farm[3] which aired on BBC two[4][5][6] in 2015 and on the subsequent Christmas special Country Strife: Abz on the Christmas farm. During her career in music Fallon has performed session and back up vocals for Disney, Pixar [7] Alesha Dixon[8] and Russian singer Alsou and written for the Sugababes.[9]

Early life

Fallon was born Vicky Fallon O'Neill on 3 June 1984 on a military base in Germany to parents Royal Air Force Squadron leader Stephen O'Neill and Debra O'Neill. At 8 years old Fallon was sent to Fyling hall school as a full-time boarder where she showed an early talent for music (writing and singing) art and sciences and a passion for horses and nature. Fallon showed talent for writing and performing music and wrote her first album at the age of 11.

At the age of 16 Fallon was signed by president and owner of Curb Records[10] Mike Curb as part of a 3 part girlband called Smoke 2 Seven. Smoke 2 Seven were signed to the country and western label Curb records for a 7 album deal and the group enlisted by ex London Records MD Laurie Cokell as their manager. S2S toured with Daniel Bedingfield, released two U.K singles "Been there done that" (UK 26)[11] and "Envy" (UK 70)[12] Fallon left the band in 2002. After being released from her contract with Curb Records ended Fallon returned to London and began working as a session singer and songwriter. Working for Disney, Pixar, Alesha Dixon, Alsou and various other pop acts. In 2001 Fallon was booked to appear at an R.A.F tattoo event which involved flying in on a helicopter with ex 5ive member and popstar Abz Love.

Eurovision scandal

In 2007 Fallon was caught up in a controversy when The Sunday Mirror newspaper ran a front page headline accusing Scooch had used two hidden 'ghost singers' as part of their performance on Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up[13] with the implication that this had given the group an advantage over rival entrants, although this was perfectly allowed. This led to accusations of miming.[14] Fallon was one of the two hidden singers.

Underground solo career

In late 2006 O'Neill dropped her surname and began performing as 'Vicky Fallon.' Fallon wrote and recorded a debut album with Cornwall-based producer and songwriter Gareth Young. Fallon was offered a deal by Matthew Knowles, father and manager of Beyoncé. In December 2007, following several crisis meetings, Fallon fired Matthew Knowles from her management via email and left Music World. In 2008 Fallon worked was signed up by independent record label eye industries and wrote a collection of tracks for other dance artists with DJ & producer Alan Braxe. Fallon pulled in friend and fellow underground artist UK beatboxer and multi vocalist Killa Kella to feature on her first single Nightwatcher [15] which received solid airplay on Radio 1 and the track enjoyed relative success on the UK underground. In 2008 Fallon's debut album caught the attention of 2point9 and they set about developing her as a solo artist. Fallon co wrote with Jersey-based Super producers Ray hedges and Nigel Butler before abandoning the project in 2009 to focus on her partner Abz Love.

Finding Love

In June 2009 Abz Love contacted Fallon via Myspace and soon after they became a couple.[16] Love moved in with Fallon and they began songwriting and producing tracks for other artists. Fallon ceased performing as an artist to focus on supporting Love back to health and guiding his career and officially became his manager in late 2009. Navigating Love's career through ITV2's the Big Reunion, Celebrity Big Brother 12, and most recently negotiating a deal with BBC two for his hit documentary series 'Country strife : Abz on the farm' [17] Love & Fallon split briefly in March 2014[18] but reunited shortly after.[19]

In August 2015 a 3 X 30 mins docu-series produced by Andrea Cornes of Tin Can Island and commissioned by Tom MacDonald aired on BBC two. The show followed Fallon and partner Abz Love's journey throughout 2014 as they purchased a dilapidated smallholding and navigated the highs and lows of adjusting to rural life on a budget. Many felt BBC Two were taking a risk in introducing Love to their audience and were criticised heavily for it.[20] But the show was an unexpected success and even secured a Christmas special COUNTRY STRIFE : Abz on the Christmas farm which aired on Boxing day 2015.[21] In January 2016 Love & Fallon released a comedy single called "Cockadoodledoo"[22][23] In an attempt to raise funds for their farming project.

Critic reviews - Abz on the farm

BBC2 isn’t usually associated with reality television, but it was immediately obvious why commissioners had made this exception. Gerald O'Donavan (TV critic for the telegraph) states "Abz on the Farm was abzolutely hilarious." [26]

Fallon continues to write songs for other artists and perform as a session vocalist however she is no longer active as an artist. To date Fallon has had over 117K views on her YouTube covers and announced she would be releasing an album on her Facebook page in February.

Personal life

Fallon and Love live on a semi off grid smallholding called 'Love farm' deep in the woods of Carmarthenshire, Wales (U.K.) with their 5 dogs Precious, Louis, Geo, Cookie and Muffin.
