WFSE (88.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an Alternative format. Licensed to Edinboro, Pennsylvania, USA, the station serves the Pennsylvania college area. The station is currently owned by Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and features programming from AP Radio.[1]
WFSE (88.9 FM) is a college radio station broadcasting an Alternative (rock) format, however there is some disagreement amongst the listeners what the format actually is. In the 2010/2011 year, approximately two thirds of the volunteer staff included hip-hop, country, top 40 radio and other non-alternative selections in their lineups. One of the middle-management employees has stated that there has been an attempt to switch the format to "magazine," but this has not been publicly confirmed by the General Manager.
The station underwent several name-changes recently. In 2009, it switched from "American College Radio" to "Macato Radio"(sp) and in fall of 2010, it returned to the original title of "Fighting Scots Radio." Some rumors spread that the most recent name-change would be in honor of the new statue outside the Edinboro University Student Center ("Angus Radio"). These rumors were dissolved with the official name change to "Fighting Scots" under General Manager Matthew Benson.
