"Where Were You" is a song recorded by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler for her eighth studio album Bitterblue (1991). It was released in 1992 by Hansa Records. As the third single from the album, it followed the success of "Bitterblue" and "Against the Wind". The song was written by Albert Hammond and Holly Knight, and produced by Roy Bittan. The lyrics depict Tyler asking her lover where they were when she needed support.

"Where Were You" failed to chart internationally, making it the least successful of the three singles from Bitterblue.

Background

"Where Were You" was first recorded by Albert Hammond on his 1989 album Best of Me. Tyler recorded the album two years later for her 1991 album Bitterblue.

Live performances

Tyler performed the song live while touring her 1992 album Angel Heart in Germany. One of the dates in Frankfurt was recorded and released on a DVD and CD entitled Live in Germany 1993, released in 2011.[1]
