Wideband Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications
Wideband Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications, or simply WDECT, in mobile telephone technology, is similar to Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT), except for being a frequency hopping protocol. The protocol will jump pseudo-randomly between different parts of the 2.4 GHz radio spectrum to prevent interference and eavesdropping. Unfortunately this is the same part of the radio spectrum that wireless networking uses.
Uniden is one of the largest producers of WDECT telephones. Uniden developed the term WDECT as a marketing tool for 2.4 GHz cordless phones to assist in competing with true DECT products.
There is no correlation between WDECT and DECT technology.
