Yuan Hong (Chinese: 袁弘, born 23 August 1982) is a Chinese actor.

Biography

Yuan was born in Wuhan, Hubei. He graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy, where he met and made friends with a fellow actors Hu Ge (胡歌)and Cecilia Liu (刘诗诗)who later collaborated with him in numerous television projects. In 2005, a screen test for the TV series Shangshu Fang made him highly admired by the producer and director. Consequently, he became the leading actor of that TV series. In 2007, he acted as Yang Kang in The Legend of the Condor Heroes. His powerful performance of the character, while initially thought to be a villainous antagonist as other actors had portrayed him on the previous film and television adaptations, instead was reinterpreted as a morally ambiguous and romantic antihero, leaving a deep impression on many people. Furthermore, he acted many other roles such as Yelü Xie in The Young Warriors, Lei Yunting in Chinese Paladin 3, Lin Mufei in A Weaver on the Horizon, Yinxiang in Scarlet Heart and so on. He is popular among many people, especially the younger generation.
