Drafted 3rd overall in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection by the Saginaw Spirit,[1] Torquato played five seasons (2005-2010) of major junior hockey, skating with both the Saginaw Spirit and the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. In his third year with the Wheeling Nailers in the 2013–14 season, Torquato was loaned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL for 18 games, posting 7 points.[4]

On June 3, 2014, Torquato secured a contract abroad in signing a tentative one-year deal with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga.[5] Unable to secure his contract in his try-out with Sparta, Torquato returned to the Nailers in signing a one-year deal on October 4, 2014.

On July 30, 2016, Torquato opted for a second attempt abroad, securing a one-year contract with Italian based, SG Cortina for the inaugural season in the Alps Hockey League.[6]
