2016–17 Saudi First Division is the 40th season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976.

The season featured 11 teams from the 2015–16 campaign, two new teams relegated from the 2015–16 Professional League: Najran and Hajer, and three new teams promoted from the 2015–16 Saudi Second Division: Al-Qaisumah as champions and group B winners, Al-Adalh as runners-up and group A winners and Weg as Third-place play-off winners.[1] The league began on 11 August 2016.[2]
