Albert "Abe" Edward Terry (17 May 1934[1]) born in St. Helens, Lancashire, is an English professional rugby league footballer of the 1950s and 1960s, playing at representative level for Great Britain and Lancashire, and at club level for St. Helens, Leeds and Castleford, as a Prop, i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums.[2]
Playing career
International honours
Abe Terry won caps for Great Britain while at St. Helens in 1958 against Australia (2 matches), in 1959 against France (2 matches) and Australia (3 matches), in 1960 against France, in 1961 against France (2 matches), and while at Leeds in 1962 against France.[3]
County League appearances
Abe Terry played in St. Helens's victory in the Lancashire League during the 1959–60 season, and played in Castleford's victory in the Yorkshire League during the 1964–65 season.

Abe Terry played Left-Prop, i.e. number 8, in St. Helens 2-12 defeat by Oldham in the 1958 Lancashire Cup final during the 1958–59 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 25 October 1958, played Left-Prop in the 4-5 defeat by Warrington in the 1959 Lancashire Cup final during the 1959–60 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 31 October 1959, played Left-Prop in the 15-9 victory over Swinton in the 1960 Lancashire Cup final during the 1960–61 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 29 October 1960.
BBC2 Floodlit Trophy final appearances
Abe Terry played Left-Prop, i.e. number 8, in Castleford's 4-0 victory over St. Helens in the 1965 BBC2 Floodlit Trophy final during the 1965–66 season at Knowsley Road, St. Helens on Tuesday 14 December 1965.
Honoured at St Helens RFC
Abe Terry is a St Helens RFC Hall of Fame inductee.[4]
