Andy Chase

Andy Chase is a New York City based musician/songwriter/producer/entrepreneur.

Career

Chase is a member and founder of the bands Ivy, Paco and Camera2 (formerly Brookville). He is co-owner of Manhattan recording studio Stratosphere Sound with partners James Iha (ex-Smashing Pumpkins), and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, Ivy).^[1]

Chase met Ivy bandmate Schlesinger in 1991 through a Village Voice ad seeking a guitarist who liked Prefab Sprout, the Go-Betweens and the Smiths. He and Schlesinger co-produced, engineered and sang on the title track for the Tom Hanks film That Thing You Do! in 1995.

Chase has produced releases by Smashing Pumpkins, Tahiti 80, The Postmarks, Ghost Beach, Juliana Hatfield, Volován, The Divine Comedy, The Trash Can Sinatras and Fountains of Wayne. He has served as composer, producer, engineer, mixer and musician on each of his bands' (Ivy, Brookville, Paco) releases.

In 2003, Chase founded Unfiltered Records, which went on to release well-received records by The Postmarks, Ivy and Brookville.

Films and television shows that feature Chase's songs include There's Something About Mary, Me Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal, Orange County, Insomnia, Stuck on You, Fever Pitch, Bee Season and Music and Lyrics. He has also composed original music for both film and TV, and voice acted for the video game Kya: Dark Lineage.

He is married to Paris-born singer and Ivy lead vocalist Dominique Durand.
