Arona is a borough in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 407 at the 2000 census.

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 407 people, 166 households, and 109 families residing in the borough. The population density was 762.0 people per square mile (296.5/km²). There were 170 housing units at an average density of 318.3 per square mile (123.8/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.53% White, 0.25% Native American, 0.25% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.25% of the population.
There were 166 households out of which 28.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.3% were non-families. 30.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the borough the population was spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 33.4% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 104.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.3 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $36,016, and the median income for a family was $50,250. Males had a median income of $35,179 versus $21,875 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $17,365. About 3.4% of families and 5.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.7% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
