Billie Lee Turner (botanist)

Billie Lee Turner (born 1925 in Yoakum, Texas) is an American botanist and the father of a geographer Billie Lee Turner II. He was a professor of botany at the University of Texas at Austin Where he also directed the botany research programme and herbarium.

Research

His main interest is spermatophyte plants.[1] He worked extensively on the flora of Mexico. He focused on the composites and legumes. Plants named in his honor include Lophospermum turneri.[2]

His last research article was in 2010.[4]
