Brad Buxer
Bradley "Brad" Buxer is an American keyboardist and composer, known for his many collaborations with American recording artist Michael Jackson[1] In addition to recording with Jackson, Buxer was also musical director for Jackson's tours for many years. Prior to that, he was a session musician for artists such as Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson and a member of the new wave band The Jetzons. In the 2000s, he reunited with former Jetzons bandmate Bruce Connole in The Suicide Kings.
Involvement with Sonic the Hedgehog 3
During his tenure with Jackson, Buxer would contribute to the soundtrack for the 1994 Sega Genesis video game Sonic the Hedgehog 3. At least two of the tracks featured in the game were instrumental versions of tracks recorded by Buxer and Jackson, including the later Jackson single "Stranger in Moscow", used over the ending credits, and the then-unreleased 1981 Jetzons song Hard Times, used as background music for the stage "IceCap Zone". Additionally, the background music for the game's Carnival Night Zone stage incorporated elements of Jackson's 1991 song "Jam".
"I've never played the game so I do not know what tracks on which Michael and I have worked the developers have kept, but we did compose music for the game. Michael called me at the time for help on this project, and that's what I did. And if he is not credited for composing the music, it's because he was not happy with the sound coming out of the console. At the time, game consoles did not allow an optimal sound reproduction, and Michael found it frustrating. He did not want to be associated with a product that devalued his music."— Brad Buxer, [1]
