David Ullman
David Ullman (born 1946) is an international yachtsman, sailboat racer, and sailmaker, winner of three 470 World Championships. Ullman founded Ullman Sails in Newport Beach, California in 1967, which led to his international sailing career.[1]
Ullman was named Rolex Yachtsman of the Year in 1996, and was nominated again in 2007.[2] He won the 2007 Melges 24 World Championship,[3] and won the U.S. Men’s National Championship (Mallory Cup).[4] He won the Lipton Cup five times (1992-1996)[5][6] and the Lido 14 National Championship ten times.[7] He has won national championships in the Snipe,[8] Thistle,[9] Sabot and Coronado 15 racing classes. Ullman has also won races in the S.O.R.C. class, and is a U.S. Team Racing champion. He formerly coached the U.S. Olympic Sailing Team.[4]
Ullman continues to race and coach, and is active in running his international sailmaking business.[1][10]
