Debre Libanos (Eritrea)

Debre Libanos second oldest Christian monastery in Eritrea after Debre Sinia. It was founded by Abba Meta in the early 6th century. A copy of a land grant from Gabra Masqal to the monastery is known, and the record of a later grant from Emperor Lalibela to Debre Libanos has survived.[1]

Its library holds a number of manuscripts, some written as early as the 13th century.
