Evangelical Church of India
The Evangelical Church of India (ECI) is a major Christian denomination in India. It has Allahabad Bible Seminary [1] in Allahabad, Calcutta Bible Seminary in Kolkata and Madras Theological Seminary and College in Chennai.[2] Its existence is because of the activity of the Oriental Missionary Society, (OMS International).[3] Bishop Dr.M. Ezra Sargunam was consecrated bishop in 1993.[4] The church has more than 100,000 members.[5] The denomination is relatively progressive and, in 2012, ordained its first openly transgender pastor.[6]
