The Hank Aaron State Trail is a 12-mile rail trail in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

The trail is named for former Milwaukee Braves and Milwaukee Brewers right fielder Hank Aaron, [1] and was built on a former roadbed of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway.

Route

The trail begins on the shore of Lake Michigan in Lakeshore State Park (43°02′14″N 87°53′51″W / 43.03723°N 87.89749°W / 43.03723; -87.89749 (Hank Aaron State Trail, eastern trailhead)). The trail travels west through Milwaukee, passing by the Harley-Davidson Museum, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, Miller Park, and the Wisconsin State Fair Park. The trail ends at the Oak Leaf Trail in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin (43°02′10″N 88°04′00″W / 43.03605°N 88.06658°W / 43.03605; -88.06658 (Hank Aaron State Trail, western trailhead)).[2] The trail is 12 miles long, and consists of 10 miles of asphalt and two miles of crushed limestone.

Access

The trail is open to walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and in-line skaters.[1] Much of the trail is accessible to people with disabilities.[1]
