Litten, known as Nyabby (ニャビー) in Japan, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Designed by Ken Sugimori, it is referred to as the "Fire Cat Pokémon", and was introduced as a starter Pokémon in the 2016 video game Pokémon Sun and Moon.[1]
Reception
Since being announced as a starter Pokémon for Pokémon Sun and Moon, Litten has received generally positive reception. Gabe Gurwin of Yahoo! Tech wrote that Litten "embraces the best and worst of being a cat", and Allegra Frank and Nick Robinson of Polygon respectively stated that "Litten is smart, it's fierce, and it doesn't have time for your crap", and that "Litten is the perfect Pokémon, and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves".[2][3]
In an official Nintendo poll voted on by over 50,000 Pokémon fans, regarding which Sun and Moon starter "has the most potential", Litten received 38% of the total vote, being narrowly defeated by Rowlet.[4] Christian Hoffer of Comicbook.com noted that both Rowlet and Litten "have attracted huge online fan followings" on the Internet.[4]
