PDXLAN is the largest computer LAN Party event in the American Northwest. The main events occur twice per year, and are held at the Portland Airport Holiday Inn Conference Center in Portland Oregon, United States of America.
Event summary
The Winter/Summer event has more participants than the Fall event, but in other respects they are quite similar. Both events involve multiple days of LAN gaming, however the main focus of the Fall event, the so-called ".5" event such as PDXLAN 16.5, is on the LAN experience and game play, instead of tournaments and other events that the Winter/Summer events have.
"...LAN Party with a LAN that was simply pure gaming. No official contests, no official tournaments, just time to frag with your friends for the weekend."
The Winter/Summer event with full numbers such as PDXLAN 18 and 19 have more people and events than its Fall counterpart. The Fall PDX Lan has ~350 people plus other crew while the larger Winter/Summer event has ~550 people plus crew and sponsors. The main semi-annual events also have around the clock scheduled events such as game tournaments, sponsor presentations, and contests such as Dodge-ball and Musical Chairs where individuals or teams can win prizes from sponsors. This main event also lasts 4 days as opposed to the Fall event's 3 day length.
Attendees' ages range greatly from young children to, in some cases, senior citizens. Additionally, all PDXLAN events have a daily closing time of ~6 hours every morning, this has been reported by attendees to be liked.[1] During that time you cannot be in the main hall. It is suggested that arrangements be made for the closed period, because this event is at a hotel and sleeping in your car or in the main hall is not allowed due to regulations.
