Philibert Babou
- Not to be confused with his son Cardinal Philibert Babou de la Bourdaisière (1513–1570).
Philibert Babou (c. 1484–1557) was a cryptographer[1] and minister of finance for Francis I. Mayor of Tours in 1520, he was appointed trésorier in 1523, with powers to collect and distribute much of the king's revenue.[2]
Francis I king of France, took his wife Marie Gaudin as a mistress,[1] and from 1520 he built Château de la Bourdaisière for her.[3]
