Sarah Skaalum Jørgensen[1] (born 6 July 1995), better known as Sarah, is a Danish singer who rose to fame as the winner of the fourth Danish series of The X Factor. She won the title on 25 March 2011 with Annelouise as runner-up and Babou third. She competed in the 15–24 years category with Cutfather as mentor. She was 15 at the time of winning.
She started singing early appearing in musicals and joined a musical band when she was 12. She plays guitar, piano, bass and drums and also loves to draw and paint. She is out and openly lesbian.[2][3]
She gained worldwide attention mainly because of her being open about her sexuality at such a young age of 15. Shortly after her winning the competition the world’s biggest LGBT media congratulated her while mentioning her victory as the first lesbian to win any version of the X Factor in the world. However, in the Danish media it has often been discussed that people shouldn’t focus on her sexuality but on her singing skills.
