Teamwork.com is an Irish, privately owned, developer-led web-based company based in Cork, Ireland. Teamwork.com creates task management and team collaboration software to support high-performance teams. The three products relate to project-management, customer support, and real-time internal communications. Teamwork.com was founded by Peter Coppinger and Dan Mackey in 2007.[7] Teamwork.com is used by over 370,000 companies worldwide (including Disney, Spotify and HP[8]) and has over 2.4m active users.[9]
Company history
Coppinger and Mackey founded their company Digital Crew in 2007 and built websites, intranets and custom web-based solutions for clients in Cork, Ireland. Frustrated by whiteboards and software management tools Coppinger wanted a software system that would help manage client projects, but which had to be extremely easy-to-use and generic so that it could be used by all sorts of companies. They began designing. In October 2007, they launched Teamwork Project Manager, nicknamed TeamworkPM. In March 2015, this was renamed as Teamwork Projects[10]
In 2014, after two years of negotiations, TeamworkPM bought the domain name 'Teamwork.com' for US$675,000 (€500,000).[11] In what was one of the biggest domain sales worldwide, and one of the most expensive ever purchased by an Irish company, the domain name had been dormant since it was acquired by original owner in 1999.[12] Originally the asking price had been $11 million.[13]
In 2015, Teamwork.com was named by Gartner to be one of their Cool Vendors 2015 in the Program and Portfolio Management Category.[14] This was followed by the launch of a new real-time messaging product, Teamwork Chat, in January 2015. Another new product for support desks was launched in March 2015. In June 2015, the company announced a massive recruitment drive to fill 40 new positions by the end of the year.[15]
This was followed by the announcement that the company is investing more than €1 million in a new Google inspired office,[16] and had leased office space in Park House, Blackpool, in what was "one of the most significant office lettings on the north side of Cork city for years".[17]
In June 2016, Teamwork.com renewed its call for more developers, and a further recruitment drive to entice developers to move to Cork instead of locating to Dublin.[18]
Products
Teamwork.com offers a suite of cloud-based applications: Teamwork Projects, Teamwork Desk, and Teamwork Chat.
Teamwork Projects was launched on 4th October 2007. At this time, among its components were to-do lists, milestone management, creation of web-based text documents, file sharing, time tracking, and a messaging system.[19] In April 2012, sub-tasks were rolled out as it was one of the most requested features from customers. In August 2012, the Teamwork Project Manager infrastructure was moved to Amazon’s EC2 Cloud. Another feature, Gantt Charts were added in March 2013. A few months later, in October 2013, a complete new user interface was launched.
Teamwork Chat was launched in January 2015 and is a real time messaging tool. It allows users to create conversation rooms to organise discussions and is also fully integrated with Teamwork Projects. Teamwork Chat works on Windows and Mac. In February 2016 dedicated iOS and Android Apps were launched.
Teamwork Desk was launched in March 2015 and is help-desk software designed to support customers. The features consist of unified inboxes, assigning tickets, ticket statuses, as well as a customer portal. It allows organisations to manage, monitor support tickets, and it also has a customer happiness rating tool.
The Teamwork Timer app was launched in June 2014. It allows users to log how much time was spent on tasks, leading to accurate time-sheets and billing.
To date, over 374,818 companies are using Teamwork.com products, with over 105,190,360 completed tasks in Teamwork Projects and 4,596,426 completed tickets in Teamwork Desk.

In 2016, Teamwork.com was awarded Cork’s Best SME in Cork Chamber’s annual Company of the Year Awards. [20] In 2016, Teamwork.com was named number 7 in Deloitte's Fast 50 tech companies hit €1.6bn turnover. [21]
