The 1992 United States presidential election in Texas took place on November 3, 1992, as part of the 1992 United States presidential election. Voters chose thirty-two representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for President and Vice President.
Texas was won by incumbent President George H.W. Bush (R-Texas) with 40.56% of the popular vote over Governor Bill Clinton (D-Arkansas) with 37.08%. Businessman Ross Perot (I-Texas) finished in third with 22.01% of the popular vote.[1] Clinton ultimately won the national vote, defeating incumbent President Bush.[2] He was the first Democrat to win a presidential election without Texas since its statehood. This was the closest in presidential history that Texas almost went Democratic, due to the impact that Perot had.
