The Chennai Central - Hazrat Nizamuddin Duronto Express or Chennai Duronto is a Duronto non-stop express train of Indian Railways, which connects Chennai, the state capital of Tamil Nadu with New Delhi the national capital. It is operated by the Southern Railway with 12269/12270 train numbers. It holds the record of being the fastest train between Chennai Central and Hazrat Nizamuddin covering the 2174 km in 27 hours and 55 minutes when compared to the Chennai Rajdhani which takes 28 hours and 15 minutes.
Coach Composition
The train uses a LHB rake and does not have any rake sharing arrangement as such. The rake consists of 2 SLRs, 8 Sleeper Class Coaches, 3 AC 3 Tier Coaches,2 two tier cum three tier coaches, 1 AC 2 Tier Coaches, 1 AC First Coach and 1 Pantry Car making a total of 18 coaches.
Traction
The train uses a Royapuram/Lallaguda based WAP 7 end to end. The maximum speed attained is 130 kmph between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Chennai.
Operation
This train is available weekly two times Monday and Friday from Chennai and Tuesday and Saturday from Delhi. This train has 6 technical halts over a total distance of 2,174 kilometres (1,351 mi).
