The International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (Hindi: अंतरराष्ट्रीय सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान भुवनेश्वर; IIIT-BH) is an information technology higher education and a unitary university institute located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. It is a University Grants Commission (India) (UGC) recognised Unitary Technical University. The campus is located in Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar. The campus houses classrooms, laboratories, library, hostel, faculty living quarters, sports facilities, and auditorium.
History
IIIT Bhubaneswar was initiated by the Government of Odisha and registered as a society in 2006.[1] It started operating in September 2007.[2] IIIT Bhubaneswar owes its origins to the initiative of the Government Odisha. In 2005, the then President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam laid down the foundation stone of the institute. The institute was registered as a society in 2006. The management of the institute is in the hands of a governing body, consisting of representatives from the government of Odisha, leaders from the IT industry and educationists.
Academics
The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Undergraduate programs award B.Tech in information technology and areas of Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology and Computer Science. M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes are available in Computer Science and Electronics and Communication .[3] The institute is a University Grants Commission (India) (UGC) recognised Unitary Technical University.
Admissions to undergraduate programmes is through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE MAIN).
University and Industry tie-ups
The university has a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with the University of North Texas for research and education collaboration. Professor Saraju Mohanty was instrumental in making this IIITBH and UNT MOU a reality. IIITBH also has MOU with National University of Singapore, concerning academics, research and joint projects.
IBM initiated a university program with the institute to conduct projects as well as training sessions. With the program the students get an opportunity to create real life software. IIIT Bhubaneswar and Capgemini have joined hands to create study materials and tools for the students.

Infrastructure
The campus of IIIT Bhubaneswar is on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on an area of 23 acres (9.3 ha). Class rooms at IIIT Bhubaneswar are equipped with the projectors and computers. The institute has labs such Computer Architecture, Database Lab, VLSI lab, MATLAB, Engineering Drawing, Chemistry Lab, Physics Lab, and Java Development Lab. The computers are powered with Ubuntu Operating System and Open source development is also encouraged. 24 hours internet facility is available both at hostel and campus.
The library at IIIT Bhubaneswar have a collection of books journals and magazines. IIIT Bhubaneswar is a member of IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Xplore Digital Library and many more. It houses classrooms, laboratories, library, hostel, faculty living quarters, sports facilities and an auditorium with two canteens. The college has two generators which provide power backup during power cuts. The college provides hi-speed 50 - 60 MBPS dedicated wifi.[4]
Library
The Textbook Library has titles in multiple copies so as to provide the students access to text books. The reference books collection has books on subjects including technical, humanities, fiction, non-fiction, handbooks and encyclopedias. The Intranet hosts a large collection of e-books. The library subscribes to journal data bases covering IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley collection, ASTM, McGraw Hill, and J-Gate.
Hostel
IIIT Bhubaneswar is fully residential. The hostel has eight blocks of nine stories. There is separate accommodation for boys and girls. The hostel can accommodate up to 1350 students.
Classrooms
The institute has classrooms of different form factors to address student's needs. There are classrooms with fixed furniture arranged like a gallery. There are classrooms with flexible furniture to create a desired layout. There are also classrooms with no furniture so as to have a dynamic audience. The classrooms can accommodate audience of capacity ranging from 30 to 300. The classrooms are equipped with audio, video and presentation equipment.

CLIA Lab
Sandhan (Indian language Search Engine) is a mission mode project funded by TDIL, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, government of India. Its objective is to develop a search system for tourism in nine Indian languages viz., Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Oriya, Assamese & Gujurati. It is a consortium mode project consists of institutes like: IIT Bombay(Consortium Leader), AU KBC Chennai, AUCE G Chennai, CDAC Pune, CDAC Noida, DAIICT Gandhinagar, Gauhati University, IIIT Bhubaneswar, IIIT Hyderabad, IIT Kharagpur, ISI Kolkata, Jadavpur University. The Sandhan system for five Indian Languages viz: Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil & Telugu is already hosted in the TDIL server for public use and other language will be hosted soon. The system will enable searching the Indian language content and thus address the gap that exists in fulfilling the information need of the huge Indian population not conversant with English - estimated at 10% of the population. The segments expected to be benefited are tourism sector, students and even business sectors.

Mobile Computing Lab
The institute has a laboratory for Mobile Computing which consists of ten Apple iMac desktops.
Characterization Lab
The proposed characterization lab would be the first of its kind in the eastern region of the nation. The laboratory will provide facility for chip testing. Although the chip designing has reached an appreciable stage in the State, the chip testing facility is not available. Now the chip designers have to tie up with IT companies having such facilities in Silicon Valley of the United States of America. The characterization laboratory will also provide a common facility to local IT entrepreneurs, students and research scholars as well, and such a facility will attract more IT investors to the State.
